The Forum is the largest event in the Mekong Region to address the confluence of water, food and energy. It brings together regional water, food and energy professionals and thinkers to explore new and emergent ideas in water, its development and its exploitation. In 2013, the event attracted over 270 participants from 95 different institutions.
FAO is a convening partner in the WLE. During the event, FAO will chair Special Session 1 ‘Study on the Impacts of Mainstream Hydropower on the Mekong River’, being convened by the Vietnam National Mekong Committee; and serve as a panellist on a session on ‘Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in paddy rice production to be convened by the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change.
